Yes, gold is used inside computers for its conductivity (meaning electricity travels really fast through gold), but it's used in really tiny amounts. If you can collect enough (old) computers/laptops you can bring them to specialised companies who will extract the gold and keep around 90% of it as a pay. In other words, you can find more gold with a metaldetector on the beach.
